Claiming business expense deductions as an independent contractor
    Hi everyone,

I am a non resident alien on an F1 visa. I received a 1099 Misc form from my former employer as I was an independent contractor. While filing my taxes on CINTAX, there was an options asking me to list business expenses. Since I live in NJ and commute by train to NYC for work, I want to claim travel costs to and from the business site. I was paid $8904 for 3 months work, so I would like to claim $352 in train fare for those 2 months. However, I don't have any receipts to back me up in case the IRS decides to question me. Will this be a problem?

    Commuting expenses are NEVER deductible.
