I am a first time offender age 24 and I was charged with mischeif over $5000.
I damaged someone's car when I was drunk one night and caused about $8000 of damages.. what am I looking at when I go to court, will I get jail time or just fines and probabtion

Depends on wher you committed the crime (as in state and country) and your ability to provide immediate restitution to the victims of your crime..

I'm from canada

It happened in my hometown in manitoba canada, also, they have footprints on the car and confiscated my shoes as evidence

Have you already paid for the damages, and/or do you have 8000 to pay for the damages to be fixed.

Is this someone's car that you know, that would testify that you should not go to jail.

Some jail is very possible, esp if you have not paid back all the damages.

It is up to the judge, you need to have an attorney
