My daughter had hold of my 6-8 week old pup and she accidentally dropped its was limping for a day or to again I woke this morning and she had hold of it and the pup was making the same noise as it did when my daughter dropped it I don't know what she did but the puppy is still limping I've moved the puppies toes and foot and there is no pain but I put pressure on her paw (as if she was standing up) and it hurts the pup what should I do I can't afford a vet :/

How do you plan on feeding it then if you can't afford to take it to the vet?

You shouldn't own an animal if you can't afford to care for it.

You can try cold packing it like you would for a sprained ankle.

A good chance that the puppy just sprained his ankle... there is another good chance that he has a hair line fracture..

Only x-rays would be able to determine what is truly wrong.. but for now, I would suggest to cold pack the puppies foot and STOP LETTING YOUR DAUGHTER HANDLE THIS PUPPY!

Yes, its cute when our kids handle baby dogs.. but kids are very careless and clueless and the dog typically gets hurt. She should only be petting the dog on the back while in your arms or under close supervision.

So you're telling me you cannot afford $100? If you go to the vet and tell them what your budget is, they'll work with you and at least give the puppy pain meds. You can at least do that for the little tyke.

Do NOT give baby aspirin or adult Tylenol or Advil.. those are very toxic to animals and you will have a bigger problem than just a limp.

I really have to concur with not allowing your daughter to handle the puppy any longer without your supervision. Children do not understand the nature of living animals and getting hurt enough to be able to handle the dog without someone there at all times. Personally, because you cannot afford a vet visit, I would find a good home and rehome the dog, or I would try to find a person that fosters dogs by calling your vet and those near where you live and asking about it because even though the thought of owning a dog might be appealing to you, waiting until your children are old enough to care for a dog might be best. I wouldn't own any animals other than a gerbil or ginea pig (sp?) if I had kids under 16. If you insist on keeping the puppy, please invest in a crate so the dog has a safety area where he can get away from your children. I would only allow the puppy out of the crate for short periods at first, to potty, which should be done at least every two hours for a small puppy, and I would make it clear to your daughter she is not allowed to open or go into the crate for any reason.

I hope you rehome the dog until you are able to properly care for one, but otherwise I wish you the very best!

Note that the OP apparently apparently does not supervise her child with the dog. Negligence is negligence. I would not wish this family on a gerbil or gineau pig or any animal. Pain is pain and no animal deserves this treatment, including rodents.

Yesterday the daughter dropped the dog - today OP woke up to child with the puppy. No supervision.

I hate to chime in on what has already been said, but REALLY?
You JUST acquired a new puppy but cannot afford a vet? You do realize that in the next few months your pup needs to go to the vet for shots more than once? Can you afford basic vaccines for this animal?

Please find the funds. You owe it to the puppy to at least provide care for it.
