    I have an infected wound on my right forearm which has now swollen and I can't move my arm without being in a lot of pain

    Have been on antibiotics now for the last 4 days but still no improvement

    I agree with Wondergirl, it SHOULD be getting better, or at least starting to. The worse it got the longer its going to take.

    Its possible you contracted an antibiotic resistant strain... thats why going back is a good idea.

    Ten years ago I had an open cut in my left knee that then got badly infected. I ended up in ICU for two weeks, received every antibiotic under the sun during that time until they finally found one that worked.

    Thus, this antibiotic may not be strong enough or the right one for this infection. Has it been determined if this is a staph infection -- or something else?

    Sepsis is a whole body inflammatory state, so saying 'before sepsis sets in' is a little extreme in this instance. MRSA is always a concern of course and prevalent nowadays in hospital settings; MRSA, impervious to many antibiotic treatments, is a type of 'staph' infection. Your wound should be see to.
