I live in New York and work in New Jersey. My employer deducted NJ state taxes. How do I report this on my New York state tax return

There is a form (I believe it is titled Resident Tax Credit) that allows you to claim the taxes you paid in NJ as a credit against your NY tax liability.

It will NOT completely offset your NY taxes (because NY state tax rates are higher than NJ), but it WILL cut it down somewhat.
