I have a 1995 gmc jimmy that will not run.4.3 v6 engine.It has good fire going to the spark plugs.I think it's a fuel delivery problem,but not sure.There doesn't seem to be fuel getting in to the cylinders.I have put on a new fuel pump & tank & checked it .Loosend filter on engine side and cranked the engine over & there was good gas flow.So the pump works.But,no gas getting to the cylinders.Could it be something in the fuel injection system?
. Ensure the Check Engine Light comes on and goes off normally. This is a good sign that the ECM is okay.
. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM). You may have spark but it is not sparking when the ECM wants it to, because there's a problem with the microchip in the ICM. Greater than 90% of all crank but won't start situations are electrical related, not fuel.
Thanks for the advice on my problem with the non starting of my 1995 GMC jimmy.But.. the ignition control module is not the problem! There is now a new ICM on,but it still will not start.Again,it has spark to the sparkplugs and the new fuel pump is pumping.Does anyone else have any ideas?
P.S. I have a first cousin who has worked on many types of vehicle's and he thinks it could have jumped it's timing.Could this be probable?
It looks like you wasted more money than that by replacing the fuel tank and fuel pump. Nobody is 100%, especially from afar. We do the best we can at AMHD. It's your responsibility to assess the recommendations and act on them or not! It sounds like it is time for you to take it to your local GM dealer.
The fuel tank & pump was replaced last year because of rust."Northern winters,ice snow along with salting".When the outlet on the tank is rusted as well then the pump goes with it.Quote:
