My son had a hemoroid/sphinterectomy surgery 4 days ago. He developed unbearable itch in anal area. Can he apply a topical cream to the area to relieve the itch?

I would suggest checking with his surgeon; if itching occurs like that and he scratches, could create an infection in the anal area. I am quite sure there is a topical cream available, perhaps by prescription only. Please check with the doctors.

Also, pharmacists are an often ignored but very valuable source of knowledge about ways to soothe and treat post surgery. They have to go to many years of school for their degree.
