Hi guys,
I have a cat that lost a leg about 10 years ago, always been a bit of a shiverer/nurvous since then(understandable), it was a car..
Its never seemed to fase it really it just gets on with things and dose very well doing that.
I've seen some of the comments on this site about another cat eating its tail and some one said nurve damage can cause this kind of beaviour, but wye just now?
Can any one help please?

Before jumping to nerve damage, try to rule out the simple things first.
Have you checked for fleas or an injury that may be bothering him and causing him to chew at his tail.
How extensive is the "eating", is he simply trying to groom away something unpleasant or is he really going after it causing damage to the skin?

Hi and thanks for getting back so soon,
She has lost about an inch of her tail, it no longer gose to a point, the end is about 1-1.5cm in diameter.
It looks like the end has come off! Trapped or run over but she's not in payne, she can't feel it so I thiknk when she had her leg taken off or during the accident the nervs got damaged.
It doesn't look green or black, it looks fresh but has been for a couple of weeks and just got really bad and worrying. She hasn't got flees, or any recent injuries, Vets I think..

Sounds like trauma, but I'm only guessing, I wouldn't think that it is the result of a ten year old injury though, something more recent would be my guess.
Cats can get themselves into some pretty precarious situations, perhaps she got it caught in something and injured it trying to free herself, or was shut in a door or cabinet or similar that you are not aware of.
I would have the vet take a look, just to be on the safe side, you don't want to risk infection if she is continuing to chew and bite at it.

Thakyou, yes we took her to the vet and they think the same that is been traped somewere and then she's been bighting it, and now risk of infection.
They decided to remove the tail completely.. Double amputee... poor thing.
