    Giving up parental rights
I have been married for 3 years, separate for 2.5 years. We have a 3 year old which he does not care to see or have any relationship with. I don't care to get child support, all I want is full custody of my child so my boyfriend can adopt her. He is willing to sign whatever to give them up. We can't afford to pay lawyers. What can I do? What is the legal process? How much does it cost?

You really can not afford not to have attorneys. Get the bio father to help pay, expain if he does not you will get child support for the next 18 years.

Thus part of the issue had you already had custody and he paying support, he would know how much this costs him.

    1. it is not your money ( child support) you choice is taking the child's money away from child
    2. I am glad the new husband ( know you did not say it, but you will need to be married for at least a year) so it gives you a year to start saving up for an attorney.

Depending on where you are, it may be a requirement that you be married for a step-parent adoption.

In any case, you will not get his rights terminated unless it is a package deal that includes the adoption. So start shopping around for an attorney now, who can advise you what to do and how much it will cost.
