isn't it the length x the width . The bathroom walls are segmented. In the shower stall the tiles go higher than the walls. I guess you would measure the segments
and then add them all together to get the sq. feet . The floor is just 6 feet x 6feet.
using 12 x12 " tiles. It will not take many there.

Much like you thought, to determine the area of the bathroom floor tile you measure width x length. Next, you measure the area of the tub (5 feet x 30") and deduct that from the area... right?

For wall or shower area tiles you do similar... measure each walls width x height and then add up all the areas to get the total tile needed.

Don't forget to measure the linear footage of bullnose tiles you'll need for finish trim edges in the shower, around windows or shower nooks.

Finally, be sure to add an additional 10% of tile to your order for cuts, broken tiles and miscuts, OK? If you'll be working a diagonal tile pattern anywhere you may want to increase the additional tile to 20%... ;)
