I am currently responsible for my four nephews about 90% of the time, there father is in trouble right now with the police and is not allowed around the children, the mother takes off for days at a time and leaves the children without food, diapers or any other necessities. I want to gain custody of my nephews with my girlfriend and we are not sure how to go about getting it. We have friends and family, including their father behind us in the decision to take the boys and give them the life and care they deserve and are deprived from, help?

Go to court for guardianship. Have the father sign temporary guardianship to you. Document that the mother leaves the children with you for days at a time without warning or contact.

Once you obtain guardianship, you can then see about custody or adoption in the future.
