Loss of Hot Water in Garden Tub
My home is 4 1/2 years old, and about a year ago, a problem occurred in getting hot water in our garden tub. We could not get any hot water to run from the faucet. The faucet is a model that does not have separate faucets for cold and hot water. There was not any loss of water pressure, but you could not get any hot water. Knowing how much plumbing bills can be, I opted to just not use the tub until I had the cash to pay for a plumber. I recently incurred a pinched nerve injury and would like to be able to soak in a hot tub. So I decided to check out this issue with my garden tub. Without doing any work on this faucet, I now have a trickle from the hot water side with "warm" water. Before I get a plumber out to the house, I would like to have a general idea of what is wrong with the plumbing and what it should cost me. Can you help me?

It is likely that the valve or cartridge for the hot side is plugged. Is it one handle for hot and cold or two separate handles. Shut of the supply lines, remove the handle and you should see a octagon nut that can be unscrewed with a wrench or spanner. You might be able to flush out the debris or pick at it with a needle. Worse case you can replace it for about $12.

Some are hooked up with hoses instead of hard piping. You may have a hose kinked.
