I have a cable modem ran to a wireless router (1 cable to computer, 1 to ps3). Router has a tough firewall that won't let me get my nat type open. So my question is "want to get rid of router and split wire from modem. PLEASE HELP "CONFUSED GAMER"

The router should allow dedicated ports to be opened specifically for games consoles.
Running cable directly to the modem is NOT a sensible option as you will open yourself up to all sorts of security issues.
Thanks curlyben, I had supportrix try to open my ports on my router (a $80 fee) that didn't work. What else can I do? Is there a special router for us gamers or what router should I get? I got a linksys wireless router now.
