My AC unit outside is making a loud noise like a car belt but not consistanly. The AC is blowing cold air inside my home but the unit is 9 years old. Anyone have ideas as to what it is??

Your unit is not old! It could be that the start and run capacitors are not powerful enough any more. Replace them with the same sizes and this could be an easy and inexpensive fix. Could be less than $20.
