Why do I have brown spots on my hands?
I started to find these brown spots on my hands two months ago. They look sort of like freckles but not too much as they very in size and shape and are a lot lighter in colour. Some of them are slightly raised off the skin. I have not been in any strong sunlight as I have not been on holidays and I live in Ireland which has had only a few days of heat this summer. I don't know what these are and hopefully someone will be able to help me as I'm starting to worry. Thanks.

I'm going to guess here. Are you in your 40's or older?

The spots are commonly known as age spots, or liver spots. Happens to the majority of women when they're older.

No I just turned 20, I meant to say this sorry. That's what I thought they might be but I don't think they are very common in someone my age that is never in sun. What do you think ?

    Could still be liver spots.

Have you seen a doctor about this?

No I haven't seen the doctor yet, I wasn't sure if it was something serious or nothing. I don't understand why I would have gotten so many so quickly though with no real change in routine. Thanks for the info anyway :)

    We're all different.

My mom got liver spots at the age of 60. I started getting them at 35.

I really would recommend seeing a doctor. Liver spots, or age spots, is just a guess, which is all I can offer on the internet. There are other things this could be, and none of them can be diagnosed on the internet.

Please see your doctor, and good luck. :)
