First time offense- stealing under 500$

I am 18 and never been in trouble. I pleaded guilty to stealing 40$ from a previous employer but they are saying I stole under 500$ and I didn't. They have me on video stealing the one time. Im a mother and just started a new job. I'm so scared. Can I go to jail for this? Or will I be charged with probation and a fine. I don't want to go to jail
