RIP Neil..

For what it's worth, my ship was involved in the Mercury program in the early 60's... I STILL have a mental picture of the space capsule John Glenn was riding in, drifting down to the ocean on three giant red and white parachutes. That would have been February, 1962.

And to the conspiracy nuts... well NASA has the capability to take photos of the landing sites... They currently have these posted and expect more detailed photos on future orbits.

I remember it well. I remember at school the next year they passed out a 45 RPM record on the moon landing to all of us. Wish I still had it. I remember the moon rocks traveling through town. Very cool stuff.

Sure, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. But only to tidy it up, so that one day it would be a suitable resting place for Obama’s kingly gaze.

The summer of '69 was certainly memorable - the first moon landing in July, Woodstock in August, and the Mets winning the World Series in October - wow!

Call me a space geek, but I noticed right away that the moon in that photo is in the wrong phase for Aug 25, 2012, and also Venus is currently up in the eastern sky in the morning, not the western sky at dusk as in this photo.
