    PLEASE stop opening new threads.

I have no idea why "this man and his son" are stuck in Ghana. What are the circumstances?

Are they US citizens? If so there is no US requirement that a US citizen have a certain amount of money in order to re-enter the US. There is no such requirement.

Travelers insurance? Ask the company that writes for whatever type of transportation they are using. There is no "one answer fits all."

And what is your interest in this? I don't understand why you care enough to post several times. Why does how much money they brought into Ghana matter to you?

Is this man someone you met online, maybe now a boyfriend who wants to travel to meet you?

They are flying BACK to the US from Ghana. This makes no sense and, yes, it sounds like a scam of some sort. "Here I am and I need $X to get home."

    But who knows - ?

I don't think he has, he went there with his 6 year old son and that country is all about money and while he was there he got rob also, but he would have been gone if the bank would have let him have the rest of the money, but I need to know if you need travellers allowance to fly back because I sent him the money to fly back, but he can't becauae of this he needs travellers allowance, I am just wondering how much it is, I don't plan on sending the travellers allowance, just also wanting to know how it works and if you have have to have it when he flew there.

I have already told you, three times in fact, that US citizens returning to the US do NOT need any particular sum of money to re-enter the Country. The US doesn't care.

If you choose to believe him, that's your business, of course, but his story makes no sense.

And I want to add one more thing, sorry about this. He went to Ghana to buy gold for his business, and it was cheaper to buy it there, but while he was there he got rob, bit and ended up in the hospital and the bank will not let him have all his money he been there for over a month, he also got errested 2 because the airlines said that he trying to escape the country with out shipping the gold first to the states... and the first time he got errested is because he was there to long and that he should had left before this. The people there in Ghana are wicked people and everything is about cash, food is not cheap there and while he was in jail this man at the hotel took care of his son. And you have to pay for cash to get out of jail.and if you are in that country to long they have a problem with it.they want you out there.Do you know anything about Ghana?

    You've posted all this already.

Yes, Ghana is a hotbed of scams. This man probably has no son (it adds pathos to his story) and may even be a woman. You are being scammed.

Why do you keep adding information when you clearly don't want or need the advice? You've been conned.

The Airlines don't have the power to arrest people. That's for starters.

You keep changing the "facts" to fit the answers. Nothing is getting accomplished.

You were scammed. Obviously you are never going to believe that. So give him more money and see what his next story is.

He does NOT need money as a returning US citizen to enter the US.

(The son is a nice touch to a routine story, though.)

Hi Judykaytee, I think we have both been scammed here. He has sent me the same message saying that he needs a travelers allowance to leave Ghana in order for him and his son to fly back to the states. If you would like to talk further about this, you can reach me at >Removed<

Hi wantabe, Leela5 here, k, what you are writing here sounds similair to my situation. However this man is saying that he had served over in Afganastan and then had to fly to Ghana to pick up his son before flying back to the states. He says once he got there, all of his belongings were stolen and he was not able to retieve any of his money from the states because the military had put a security on his bank account. If you would like to speak to me further about this, you can contact me at >Removed<
