#1 turn off the TV, the Cell phone, and put way the play station... and unless its required stay away from the computer.

Also keep in mind... if you don't study, the best job you might find is washing public toilets or shoveling poo from the sewers.

That should be a strong motivator there.

Get index cards and each time you have a vocabulary word, write the word down on one side, and the definition on the other.
Study early for all of your tests.
Stay on top of your homework and reading assignments. Don't procrastinate.
Your sisters can do the same thing. Broken home or night, you all need to rise above it and show everyone what you can do. Don't be afraid to speak to your teachers. That is what we are there for and we also want to know about your home life. Most teachers will help you!

The same poster asked this question earlier today on the AMHD Facebook page, and you "stole" the strategies I suggested. :) We must have been teacher clones somewhere.

The biggest thing I have learned when I have trouble concentrating on certs, school-work, MCI's, etc... is to eliminate the things that are taking your focus.

If its your family, try to find time to go to the library. If it's the cellphone, turn it off. Computer, turn it off. Etc...

You have to be ale to recognize the item(s) that are distracting focus from your studies. Recognize and eliminate. Either the items themselves or yourself from the item (ie: family).

    Just a thought...

Exactly... we educate all the stars, but never receive the salaries we deserve. Oh well, no one goes into teaching to get rich! I just look at my cutie pies every day knowing I make a difference.
