I have a panasonic TV, TH-50PX600U. It plays well for 25 to 35 minutes and then shuts off. It will not immediately turn back on but if you wait overnite it will repeat the problem. There is no hot odor. On occasion, a single click sound con be heard.

Take it back to wherever you got it from(ie Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, etc) and have a sales rep look at it and see if they can have a certified technician fix it for you, if not, then scrap it.
