    Filibuster
    Hello:

Let's assume that there's a Republican romp this fall.. The Democrats can at least BLOCK the right wingers by filibustering EVERYTHING they try. In fact, I'll bet that Senate Minority Leader Reid, will say his upper most objective is to make Romney a one term president...

    Won't that be fun?

Don't worry, we can just put it through under reconciliation... the Dems set the precident on that being an acceptable practice a couple years ago.

    Hello smoothy:

Nahhhh... Won't work.. I don't want to get wonky on you, but a reconciliation bill can only contain changes in law that are PURSUANT to a budget resolution which must be passed under ordinary senate rules...

Didn't stop them doing it with Obamacare... We can repeal Obamacare the very same way.

Again your short memory is showing. During the Bush years it was not just a tactic, it was a very public mantra by the Dems, obstruct, obstruct, obstruct.

I also recall one of Obama's first reactions Republicans as president when they tried to work him was, "I won." Nice compromise there.

And yet the American people opposed Obamacare and he rammed it through anyway. Yes I said rammed it through anyway.

Republicans have put forth bill after bill on the budget, the economy, etc. only to have them declared BEFOREHAND they would be DOA in the Senate, that hasn't passed a budget in how many days now?

So in conclusion, the Dems position is clear. "Compromise," "bipartisan" and "progress" mean one thing to them, Republicans need to put aside their ideology, their proposals and get on board with the Dem's agenda without giving it an ounce of rational thought.

    Sorry Bub, we're onto you.

I'll go under the assumption that a "Republican romp" will include a super-majority in the Senate .

What a waste of time and money in your country due to the nasty divisiveness. It's a shame.

Obama created the deviciveness when he played the race card and resorted to using ACORN to commit election fraud... and every day since blaming everything on Bush.

Imagine if everyone else in Canada told the Frenchies to shove a sock in it... how well that would be received.

I seem to remember Canada having a bit of an issue with those guys over the years. Didn't they threaten to form their own country a few years ago?

It's the Platform of the Democrat party... has been for a whole lot of years...

If we put a shaft through the rotted corpse of JFK, we would generate enough electricity to Power the entire Washington DC area because he's spinning in his grave so fast over what the Democrat party has become.

You can't fool me, you're plagued with the partisan bickering and polarization in Canada as well. Conservatives and Liberals, English Canadians and Québécois. We have the internet you know, you can't sit up there all smug and pretend Canada is above all that because we know that's not true.

Which side of the Canadian debaukle are you on... the Frenchie sepratists or the English speaking majority?

We have nowhere near the attitude you guys have towards "the other side". The political hatred on this board simply because someone is affiliated with a different party is crazy. There are no Canadians doing that to other Canadians here, at all.

I'm a Québécois so you can't school me on that. We don't make a point to prevent the opposition from trying to run the country or province.

But the responses in this thread are perfect examples. It's always attack, attack, attack.

Neither... and I'm perfectly bilingual. It's just not that important. I'll take some issues with certain measures that are planning to take but I do like ALL my fellow Canadians, regardless of party affiliation since that means jack-squat to their personality. There are nice people and nasty people of all political affiliations - isn't that true?

Well we haven't had a serious attempt for a part of the country to leave since the 18th Century, and thatt didn't go to well for them.

The Frenchies attempt was a lot more recent. If they aren't trying to force they way on everyone up there.. then why have they been forcing everyone to have EVERYTHING in both French and English... (which no doubt costs a huge amount of unessessary money every year) rather than just make the ones who can't speak English... learn english. Which I do believe is a much smaller number.

Yes I think the immigrants and illegals down our side of the border should be forced to learn english too.
