My 93 honda accord fuel pump cuts on sometimes and sometimes it doesn't when I get up in the morning it will crank up after I get off work it will not crank I don't hear the fuel pump I use a hammer and knock on the fuel tank a couple of times and then I will hear the fuel pump cut on and it will crank is my fuel pump going bad ?
I have yet to see a bad Honda fuel pump. Usually, the fuel pump not running is the effect, not the cause.
With that said, does the Check Engine Light consistently comes on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? If so, that means your ECM (computer) is fine and that your ignition and fuel system checks out as O.K. Still, I would clean the main ECM ground, located on the thermostat housing--look for a 3-wire brass connector. The main relay also causes many fuel pumps not to run. Cold solder joints on the PCB expand and cause problems, particularly in the heat of the day. I recommend replacing them every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.
When there's a problem with the ECM, the second relay in the main relay will not work and the fuel pump will not run. This is because the ECM controls the grounding to Terminal 8 inside the main relay. Therefore, when there's a problem with the computer, the main relay and fuel pump will not work.

I don't see the emc ground do you have a site or something I can go to to find out what it looks like I try to Google it but no picture came up and I also already changed my main relay I changed that because I notice the car wouldn't start up in the afternoon while it was hot outside but it would start up in the mornings with no problem and I did research and every one said the main relay. One day after work it wouldn't start up at all so I had went and got a brand new main relay and the car still wouldn't crank it sat at my job for 2 days because I couldn't find out the problem and I just decided to knock on the tank to see what would happen and it eventually crank and every since that day like every other day if not every day since last week Sunday I had to knock on the fuel tank for it to crank in the afternoons
Banging on the tank is a first, for me. Try removing the rear seat and checking all connections going to the fuel pump. Clean the connections with abrasive cloth and apply dielectric grease. If your main ECM ground is not on the thermostat housing, you'll have to research it.
OK ill try that tomorrow and see what happens and ill let you know what I have came up with thanks
OK this morning before I went to work had clean my ecm ground and on another forum I was looking at last night some one else was had the same problem and they said they had took out the ecm fuse and backup fuse for a min to reset the ecm I also did that and put them back in and the car cranked up on the first try and I went to work and when I got off it cranked right back up on the first try so so far so good I hope it continues to work but if not I will let you knowQuote:

Grease monkey I really need your help the car did it again this morning and this afternoon when I try to crank it the fuel pump didn't cut on again and once again I had to get down under the car and tap the tank with a hammer and it then the fuel pump had cut on and it crank so wires must be isn't the problem I really need this fixQuote:

I change the fuel pump out but its still doing it it only does when the car it hot outside like in the afternoons after sitting in the sun the pump won't cut on and I will have to tap on the tank for the pump to cut on and I hear it prime but in the mornings and at night I don't have this problem it cranks up with no problem at all only in the afternoons.Quote:
