It was undoubtedly by default (which means you didn't appear and it was granted without a challenge).

Did you have ANY knowledge of the proceeding and, if not, is it your plan to attempt to set the divorce aside?

I did appear in court, but my ex husband did not appear before the court. Am I legally divorced?

Get a copy of the papers from the court. See if it has been signed by the judge. If it has then you are divorced. If it hasn't been signed off yet (as a waiting period to contest it) then find out what the time table is.

Right, you need to see the papers.

If you filed for divorce, you either signed the divorce petition or an attorney did so in your behalf.

If your husband was the plaintiff, and you appeared, it may not be necessary that he had to actually be present at the court hearing.

What other "papers" do you imagine you should have signed?
What transpired at the court hearing?
