Hey everyone,

I have a face-plate on the wall with a coax output that went straight into my television. However, my televisions coax input broke, so I have to buy a converter for the clear QAM signal.
Rather than spending 125+ on this top box (http://www.firebird-systems.com/graphics/dct210/digital-tv-tuner-hdmi-dct210.shtml) would the following combination work? Hopefully it will, since it's about $100 dollars cheaper.

Are you just looking for a way to connect your cable (coax) into your TV (with a broken coax)?

Your talking about QAM confused me a little.

Pretty much. I just thought mentioning the signal was clear QAM was important (but I have no idea what I'm talking about).

There are many ways to do this. Some aer expensive (the ones you mentioned) and others can be done with items you may already have at your house.

The easiest way is to take a DVD Player that has composite cable inputs and a coax in. Connect the coax from the faceplat to the DVD player. Than the composite cables from the DVD player to your TV. This way you're using your DVD's tuner. This way is free if you have this kind of DVD player. It doesn't necessarily have to be composite either, you can use S-Video input if it has that as well. You would still need A/V cables for sound but its your choice. Depending on if yout TV has composite inputs or S-Video.

There are boxes you can get (which you mentioned) but why buy something if you have the means to make it work without it. Just a thought.

As far as QAM Signal goes. I will admit, I don't know if this will affect that.
