Why would I test positive for Oxycodone on 3 separate test. I don't take oxycodone, I am on Methadone. Probation is sending the test away, what does that do??

Do you have a copy of the test results?

In all likelihood they are sending the test to a lab for confirmation testing. That is to your benefit as a confirmatory test (GC/MS etc) can identify the presence or absence of specific drugs.

Thank You, I am really scared, because if it comes back that I used oxycodone, I will be going to jail. I am confused as to why positive on 3 test, if it was a false positive, My Husband is on Oxycodone and I am wondering if swallowing after oral sex, could put oxycodone in my system? Iam so baffeled that it came up on 3 test, after testing positive at Probation, I had my DR do one, when that came back POS. I went to the Pharmacy and bought a test kit. I did not take any oxy's, So how could 3 test be wrong? Thank's So much 4 your time

Let's look a little closer at that. What test kit did you buy at the pharmacy and what type of tests were administered at the other two locations. Most POC (instant) tests lack the sensitivity to detect oxycodone unless it is a specific test for the drug.

It is unusual to get a false positive on 3 immunoassays in sequence and it is doubtful that it even involves methadone as it is a synthetic that should not break down into any constituent similar to oxymorphone which is the metabolite of oxycodone (and that is providing a specific test is used). Otherwise the level of actual opiate in Oxy is so small that it just doesn't register on a standard panel even at 300 ng.

The test that you bought at the pharmacy contained a package insert that should include cross-reacting substances. Begin there and see if lists Methadone.
