Sick chihuahua

We have a 9 yr old chihuahua that has blood coming from her rectum. Not a lot... But enough she leaves spots.
She was sick the last two days vomitting but is fine today and playing. She didn't stop eating or drinking either... She has very soft but not runny stool with blood in it.
Any ideas? Vet closed until tomorrow morning...

I would look online for one. Any bleeding in an animal should be checked by a vet ASAP.

Females dogs go through menopause too, is she spayed, has she gone of her food and water? Has she had any other health issues?

She has been spayed... No other health issues. She's eating and drinking well.

It sounds like something tore her rectum, but without seeing your dog I wouldn't be able to say for sure. Also, I'm not a vet, so even if I saw your dog I couldn't give a diagnosis.

If she's eating and drinking, book an appointment with your vet tomorrow as soon as they open. Bleeding should be checked out. If she suddenly stop eating, is lethargic, or goes from being seemingly healthy to a complete turn around in the other direction, I would go to an emergency vet. But seeing as she doesn't seem to be sick other than a small amount of bleeding from her bum, you should be fine seeing the vet tomorrow.

But that's just an opinion. No one online can tell you if this is an emergency, or something that can wait. That's your call, you have the dog in front of you, you know the dog. If you feel she needs to go in right away, then that's what you should do.

Let us know how she's doing after her vet appointment tomorrow. :)

True, we can't diagnose but it appears to be a change of life for her; she will be a little skittish, warm.. nose dry and unhappy but that is to be expected and females are all like that with different reactiions, but agree with alty, make a vet appt. for your adult lady just to make sure everything checks out and she has no issues.

The thing is Tickle, the dog has been spayed. A spayed dog doesn't go into heat, and wouldn't be going through "menopause". The blood isn't related to a change of life, this dog has no reproductive organs. Also, if it was, it wouldn't be coming out of her rectum.

I am glad you are taking her to the vet. What caused the vomiting may still be affecting her especially if she swallowed something that is making its way through her digestive tract. It just may not be where it is causing pain or full obstruction.
