Well if you are working here in the US, you need to practice and learn English if your job is communication related. Your customers will expect to be able to be understand and to understand you also.

Your company should have an approved method of answering the phone, normally hello ( company name) this is (your name) how may I help you.

But in almost all companies there should be some be rules on proper use and answering of company phones

I have worked on the phone service for the last four -six years. The hardest thing is listening to people over the phone with a strong accent. The best way to handle it is this way:

    1. When you listen, listen very carefully. If you are unsure of what they said say " I am sorry can you please repeat that again." Say it very nicely and they will say it again for you.

    2. Go over what they said to them to make sure you have it correctly. Say " I am going to go over this to make sure I understood everything, or " Just to make sure I have everything you have reqeusted or need this is what I have... "

    3. Do Not Be Afraid to ask someone to please slow down speech anything, just approcah it in a clean and nice manner.

I hope this helps some for you.
