    I want to know why the breaker kicks off after I replaced a shorted out well pump controler & a capacitor

    Assuming that this is a submersible pump, the short could be any where. Could be in line to well head, could be in line down the well or could be pump.

    Provide more information please.

    Suggest that you disconnect the line at the well head. Cap the wires and turn breaker on. If breaker trips, fault is in the line to the well head. If it doesn't it is either in the line down the well or the pump.
