My dog is really old and has not eaten for 3 days my mum and dad say she is dying and the are calling the vet to put her down...
I really want her to live and I will be seriously sad when she dies...
Should she be given the chance to live or should we just put her down?
How old is she?
Right now, she is starving to death, in a way. Do you want that?
Has the vet looked at her and said what he thinks

The thing is, not eating is a sign that something is very wrong. I've been there, in fact, I've been there just recently, only a few months ago.
There's not much that the vet can do. Yes, he can check your dog, but he'd have to run tests to find out what's going on, there's no way he could give you a diagnosis or treatment without running tests. Those tests can cost up to thousands of dollars. Are your parents willing to pay that amount of money? Can they afford to?
The vet could do all the tests and come back with nothing. It happens all the time. It could be something serious. Dogs are very good at hiding their sickness. Once they stop eating, start acting sick, it's usually very serious. Not eating is a big one.
I do think your dog deserves the opportunity to be treated, if that's an option. But really, without extensive testing, there's no way that will happen, which will mean that this illness will go untreated, and she'll die anyway.
I think you should talk to your parents, ask them to at least consider what the vet recommends. Let the vet come, look at the dog, and make a recommendation. If the vet says there's no hope, then let her go peacefully. Euthansia is very humane. It doesn't hurt at all. They put a needle in her paw, and administer an overdose of the medicine they use to put a dog to sleep for an operation. She will fall asleep, and then her heart will stop. She won't feel anything at all, and you can be by her side the entire time.
Talk to your parents, let the vet come, and hope that there's something that can be done. But if there isn't, you have to be the strong one, you have to do the right thing and end her suffering. You love her. Love means that sometimes you have to make a hard choice, something you don't want to do, but that's best for the animal.
I'm sorry you have to go through this, but it is a part of having animals in your life. They have a very short life span compared to humans, which means that you will experience their death if you choose to have them in your life. It's never easy, but I think that the joy of having animals in your life is worth the pain you face when you lose them. I'm sure you feel that way about your dog. Having her in your life was worth it, right?

I think you should always explore your options.
However; there are some things you need to consider... Are you going to be spending money on basically life support just to avoid the inevitable?
Speak with your vet. Ask them what the options and outcomes are going to give you and your dog.
Some illnesses such as cancer will sneak up on pets and it will cause them to lose massive amounts of weight and kill their appetite. A lot of times, with animals, if cancer is the cause, typically, by the time a pet shows symptoms or pain and discomfort, its too late for any medicines to work.
Dogs have been known to live well into their late teens... especially small breed dogs.
You need to speak with your vet. Exploring all options is not a bad thing when its coming up to a life or death decision.

See what the vet has to say when he comes out.
Then ask yourself these questions,
How is her quality of life? The dog she was vs. the dog you see now.
If the vet offers treatment solutions will those solutions only buy her a little more time without adding to her quality of life?
I think it's always best to explore options with a sick pet, but there are limitations, both financial and what medicines can actually do to help.
It's best to keep her best interest in the forefront and do what is best for her, if that is euthanasia, yes it will be difficult I certainly won't say that it will be easy, I've had to say goodbye to some wonderful pets myself and it is never an easy choice.

To every one who has tried to answer my question thanks a lot but she was too old and I think that I did not want her to starve to death so the vet came and put her down. At the moment it felt like she was being murdered and I just wanted to run outside and shout and tell them to give her a chance and every thing will be okay but my mum held me tight and said that the night before she had a dream that simba (our dog) was happy and running the way she used to and her coat was beautiful and she was in no pain. That's the way I hope she will be in heaven. So I had to make the hard decision and we buried her this afternoon at our plot that we have and we plated a tree over her grave. That tree is called simbas tree and I know I did the right thing letting her go peacefully other than painfully.
