I love writing, but I need a muse, something to write about, but I just can't think of anything! Please help!

If I could go back (or forward) in time
The best advice my mother (or father) gave me
If I could be an animal
What three things would I take with me if I knew I would be stranded on an island for a year
The most important thing I learned in school
The hardest part of being a kid
If I could talk to an animal, which one and what would we talk about

A writing friend sends me a first sentence and I write a short story from that. For example,

The lake froze early that winter, but Ivan didn’t emerge from his cabin until January.

OR

Rain. I didn't expect it. I normally wouldn't forget my umbrella on a day like this, but today I did. It isn't turning out to be a good day to solve a murder.

OR

It was turning into one of those infamous Chicago summer days – so hot and steamy you can hardly catch your breath.
