    International custody question
My wife's sister has become ill. They are from China. My wife, who has her green card, and I (I am an american citizen) need to take care of my wife's son since she can no longer care for him. What do we do to get temporary custody quickly so we can care for him while his mother gets treatment in China?

Where is the boy? In China? In the US?

I realize they are "from" China. Are they actually still living in China?

Hire a international family law attorney, it gets complicated just getting a visa for him to come without his parents. It may be easier for your wife to travel back to China and get temp custody or guardianship there under Chinese law and then bring him back to the US

There may be some real issues for the child to travel to the US. If this is a rush, can your wife travel and live in China for a while to help out at their home
