After I flush the commode, the water doesn't stop running into the tank. I have adjusted the water level, but the water still keeps going over into the water flow tube. I have to turn off the water source.

Time to replace the flush valve assembly in the toilet.
Time to come to terms here. This is a flush valve, (see image) what you want to replace is the ballcock also known as the fill valve. Cheers, Tom
