Old fcnb account - new collections agency
    Hello

I have a similar problem to the woman who is trying to buy a house. My spiegal/FCNB account is old, last activity 2/99, it only appears on my experian report. (fcnb went out of business in 2003) it says that it will be on there until 2009. But I thought it should be 7 years. I live in Illinois How do I find out?

I haven't been contacted since 2005 by a collection agency.

Then two days ago I get a vague letter that says this new agency bought the debt tacked on 400 dollars. Do I ask them to validate the debt? I am in the process of credit repair and was going to send a letter to the CRA saying that the FCNB/Spiegal debt is too old, take off, will asking the new collection agency to validate cause them to add the debt to transunion and equifax?

    Confused in Illinois.

Yes, there are several threads that detail the steps you need to take at this point.
