My earliest memory (by Anonymous)
The earliest memory I have is from when I was around four. My Nanna had taken me to my aunt's wedding. I remember how amazed I was, at how white everything was, the beauty of my aunt, and how many people cried. I went from person to person, telling them not to cry, that everything was OK. Jealousy caused me to fuss as I had wanted to be a flower girl, spreading those delicate petals onto the aisle.
I stayed silent during the entire ceremony, not understanding most of the big words the man with the white collar was saying. When they kissed, I looked at my Nanna and scrunched up my nose.
I received a lot of attention after the wedding; my Nanna loved to turn me into a doll. I danced with my new uncle, my feet on his, throwing my head back and smiling at him. It was magical, the elaborate decorations amazed me. I still don't think I have seen anything so beautiful.
The reception was the best part. Only the closest family attended, and we were in a small white room. It looked like heaven to me, and I danced like an angel. After we finished eating, my Nanna started praising my older cousin. "Good job! Hannah licked her plate clean!"
Wanting my Nanna's approval, I picked my plate up and started licking it, going "I'm doing it too, Nanna!" I received lots of smiles and "She's so cute"s. I ate it all up.
There was a jukebox there, and Elvis was playing. I tried to dance like the older people were, but I fell over and sat on the ground, pouting. My uncle picked me up, and rocked me back and forth. I fell asleep in his arms, sucking my thumb.
