The age of consent in NB is 17. But the age of majority is 18. Which mean the mother holds control until 18 For the 19 yr old to defy the mother could be prosecutable under the law.

So the 19 yr old needs to wait at least 3 years.

And no Age is NOT just a number. A 19 yr old has NO business being in a romantic relationship with a 15 yr old. They are at different stages. Even if the 15 yr old is sure of her sexuality. This is even more wrong then opposite sexes dating.

I am not a homophobe, but I would find it very disturbing to have ANY 19 yr old preying on someone so much younger.

They can't have sex, but if the minors mom is OK with the dating, they can date, but if the mom says they can not date, they can not date till the minor is 18 and can choose for herself

They were dating from the ages of 16 and 12? Did the mother who is mad know about this relationship the entire time or were they lying to her? Is that why she is upset? What happened to make the mother hostile to their dating after 'about 3 years'?

I highly suggest the 19 year old break off contact with the younger girl. She should go on about her life and working on being the adult she is.

The 15 year old needs to grow up at a slower pace.

I didn't pick up on this. A 16 yr old preying on a 12 yr old? The 19 yr old should be in jail!

I wonder if mom or dad knew about this at 12 years old. And about the same sex issues.

The court would love this 19 year old, and the ladies in the cell block many of them mothers would love someone that preyed on children.
