How to cut a drain into a vertical drain stack
I want to add a sink in my basement, and I have direct and easy access to the drain pipe (PVC) which is where the main / upstairs kitchen sink drains (Clean out is right there too).
Can a new drain be cut into this location of the stack? What kind of fitting would be recommended? Do I need to worry about venting at this sink?
Also during any cut in (if I can) I would guess that I'd need to provide some kind of temp support of the vertical pipe..

Thanks for any and all help!

If you can find a 2" solvent cement saddle for the drain pipe size use that. Otherwise you will need to support the PVC pipe, cut out a section and either solvent cement in a sanitary t fitting or stub on one with Fernco fittings.

GoI don't hold much faith in saddle fittings, Let me take your concerns bone at a time,

Yes! Center it 18" above the floor line,

    a sanitary tee.

Yes! You will have to run a vent out the roof or revent back to a existing roof vent. Another option would be to install a AAV (air admittance vent) if code allows,

You better be propping up the stack unless you want it to end up on the floor. You will need a raiser clamp and a couple of 2 X 4s,(see images). Good luck Tom
