Start button does not work...

Usually, you remove the rubber cover containing the buttons (turn off power, first) and clean both the circuit board and rubber with dishwashing soap or shampoo with soft toothbrush. Wipe dry and clean again with alcohol and blow dryer. Let dry well for an hour or two, re-assemble and you should be good to go. It's the same way you repair remote controls that have had something spilled on them. The touch pad probably got wet somehow. Make sure to seal it up with GE silicone caulk or you will have the same problem again.
