The court told my son he needs an interlock system put on his vehicle since he is an habitual dui offender and drives without a license. He moved home, does this mean all the cars will have to be fitted with one, or just his? We lock our keys up and he has no access to them, even his keys to his truck is locked up since he up for 2 separate charges for driving without a license. Will they just put it on his truck or all the vehicles where he is living? Can we stop them from putting them on our cars? Thank you.

It will be up to the Probation officer and the court, You of course give up many rights when you allow someone on probation and/or parole to move into your home. Right to search without a warrnat with issues dealing with the person on probation for example.

If you did for example allow him to use your vehicle it is very possible that you would be charged with that. So they most likely will just require his vehicle to be the one. If he uses anyone else's most likely he would just be revoked and the owner of other car arrested.

True on that. He was not living with us at the time that he drove twice without a license, so I had no control over that. Now that he is with us for a time, we do have all the keys to his and our vehicles in a locked safe. We also have all our medications, money and hunting knives and guns locked up. Amazing to live in retirement, working on projects around the house, then having to babysit a 29 year old who will not listen to a soul.

Thank you so much. His vehicle is at our house and when he moves out he will not have access to it, so why do we need one on his, when he will not be at the address the vehicle will be at? He also does not have a job to cover the cost, and we will not pay for it. Any ideas? He is moving out before the court order of the 24h of this month.
