I am 4 days late on my period. I have took 2 pregnancy tests so far and they have been negative, but I am wondering if it is too early for a home pregnancy test. I am on birth control and have not missed my pills. That is the only birth control we use.

Some pregnancy tests can work from the first day of your missed period I think its called first response, the box or leaflet will tell you how soon the test can work. The pill can be less effective if you have had vomiting or diahorrea I think. But lots of things can make your period late such as stress. Good luck.

In reality 4 days is not really even late, it is just the time for your period, perhaps in a week will be much better time to test. Also what time of day, I assume you did this first thing in the monring with the first urine of the dad?

But you want to wait at least a week, and then another week unless it shows up

Depending if your period is regular each month, not having your period after 4 days is considered late if it comes at the same time every month. For example, if it comes every 28 days to the exact day every month and then suddenly one month 4 days go past your due date and it has still not come, there is a reason why is has not come. Especially when being regular any other month. It could be because you are in fact pregnant and tests are too early to detect, or it could be your body is under going stress, or your hormones may be out of wack. There are many reasons for a late period. Although 4 days is not really a long time since your period has been due, I wouldn't stress. If your period is irregular, than your body may very well just be taking its sweet old time to pay you the monthly visit. :) I would suggest taking another HPT in a weeks time, if still negative and no period maybe make an appt with your doctor and go from there.
