My roommate(girl) and I signed a lease. Right after we moved in she moved in another girl( unknown to me a relationship/couple!) The new girl is there all the time even when my roommate is not.-she is not on the lease. I have no privacy and spend all my time in my room. They make out on the couch. They make me feel like I am intruding and the other girl is not helping finacially and not on lease. Now they are trying to tell me who can and cannot visit me for a few hours. I want out of my contract. I was tricked into thinking this was a two person living situation. It is making me miserable. Can I get out of my lease since she broke her part of the agreement that no other person shall live here without my written consent. If I get the manager to address the issue of the other girl leaving I know she will stay most of the time anyway. What are my legal rights, I need out of contract. We have 10 more months. Thank you.

Have you gone to the landlord over this unautherised person yet? If not why not?

DO it before she legally becomes a resident if its not already too late.

Otherwise without your lanlords approval AND the roomates to alter or write a new lease... you are stuck there for another 10 months.

They are telling you who can visit you? Ignore them and make their lives miserable too with guests, and you will be asked, begged, to leave. I would also go to the landlord and make it clear that a 'guest' is there even when the legal tenant isn't.

Keeping your dirty underwear in the Refrigerator so they don't smell up your room would be effective as a starting point.. if you are female... stick your used Maxipads in the couch...

Trust me... women can out-crude guys if they put their mind to it. You could make those next 10 months the longest they have ever experienced if she doesn't go back to the original agreement and respect you.

Sorry, I really shouldn't have posted that... but its an effort to express to the OP that they don't have to be a doormat in their own place... and there are ways IF you can't get out, to make the other party want to stick to their original agreement. Without opening yourself up to a situation that would be detrimental to you. Like in a judgement for bailing out on a lease.

The girlfriend of my roommate is very evil; she scares me, I have put a lock on my bedroom door.

I am female and date only men. I had no idea my (girl) roommate would move in another girl as a partner. She is not on the lease.

I said this because if she stays there long enough... she becomes a resident (even without being on the lease) and would have to be legally evicted... which would complicate the situation.
