We have planned a 30' wide by 48' long pole building for a home. 12' high walls. If we make our ceiling height at 10' and we have a 5/12 pitch roof, will the resulting attic space be worth using attic/open trusses to make a livable space upstairs?
We are living in a portion of a larger 46' X 60' pole building now. It has 10' walls and we did 8' ceilings. Tons of unused attic space. But it was built with regular trusses, so pretty difficult to use the space. But not sure what we would be left with on this 30' width. Thanks!

It sounds like the distance from attic floor to peak is 75" (5" x 15') + about a foot left of the 12' walls = about 7' 3-4"? I wouldn't call that a lot for standing room as you move out from the ridge.

A 30' wide building, with 12 foot walls and a 10 foot ceiling, and a 5/12 pitch roof, you could have a attic room 15 foot wide with a 8'3 ceiling at the peak and 5' 1" at the walls.

peak 5x15+24=99/12=8.25

walls 5x7.5+24=61.5/12=5.12

No allowance for the floor thickness?

Subtract 3/4 to 1". Have to subtract another 10" for joist come to think of it. So you end up with a 11 foot wide room.

With attic trusses the collar ties are set about 2 feet from ridge. This will bring ceiling height to about 6' 3''.

Seems you need an architect. Where can you find an attic truss where the bottom drops down 2' from the wall height?? I am always amazed at people who play architect with absolutely no clue about it with lots of money at stake. I had a guy design his own house with software and it costs me more to have to deal with atrocious plans without wounding his pride. In 32 years I have yet to see anything usable design wise from a DIY'er. When people manage to get a permit somehow, the property is often not resaleable for anything approaching what would its value otherwise. Even my wife whose background is education learned how you can tell them at a glance.

There are several solutions to this, but it cannot be done in a vacuum without knowing the whole picture.

As I read it, the basic question OP had was; I can see how much attic space exist in a certain type of building, of certain dimensions. How much space would exist in the same type of building of different dimensions?
