Wiring a dual lamp fixture where a ceiling fan/lighting used to be
I took down a ceiling fan/lights and want to replace it with a dual lamp ceiling fixture. No matter how I've tried to wire it, I can't seem to get lights to work with the wall switch. Two Black wires and two white wires from the ceiling box. One of the black wires is hot constant. When I wire the fixture to the other black wire I get no power regardless of the position of the wall switch.

Examine the switch and tell us the wiring there.

Sounds like you have a switch loop wiring. Look at the wall switch-are the wires black or black and white? If black and white, find that pair by using a continuity tester. Connect the hot black to the white on the wall switch and the returning black to the light black, other white to light white. Make sure the switch white is marked with black tape or black magic marker at the switch and light. Let us know what happens.
