I am a Disabled Veteran who collects Social Security, who was assaulted by one of my roomates, of which I filed a report. The problem is that the roommate is good friends with the Landlord and when this happened the lanlord ordered me out of the house, of which she ended up hiring an attorney who served me with an unlawful detainer and possession, and even though I moved out a month after the assault, I know I will lose without representation. So I wanted to seee if her attorney can put a hold on my drivers license?

What are you being sued for? The landlord gave you an vacate order and apparently you vacated. So what is the suit about.

No, I don't think so. What would your license have to do with anything?

Did you pay rent for that last month ? If not if you lose, you will pay for the rent for that month, the court costs and the legal fees.

If you were living there I will assume you paid full rent till the time you moved.

The reason why I bring up the license Scott is because the court costs that I am paying for the Filing Fees, the court sent me paperwork that If I do not pay they can put a hold on my drivers license?

If you owe the COURT money... they can do it... but owing a landlord isn't going to.

Scott, So what can her attorney do to me, if and when I lose this? I was also told that once I lose this case, that I should sue the roommate who assaulted me, for whatever the amount I will owe? I am very grateful for your help, and the only way I can return the favor is by doing what I have done for 15 years, of which is p lacing people into companies. I used to be an executive recruiter in placing people into companies in all different disciplines, like legal, accounting and finance, hr and sales. So I will return this favor to you, if you have any family or friends that need any advice, resume prep, if they want a better job, or need a job. This is the only thing I can offer. And because of this, I am trying to get back in recruiting as it is hard living on my ssdi, but no o ne will hire me because I am starting to sound like Ali with my pd.

Scott as it relates to the Universe being infinite, not sure if you watch through the wormhole with morgan freeman, or how the universe works on the same SCI channel, but they universe may not be infinite. I always use taxes. In any case, I like your metaphors. Human stupidity is great. It is difficult developing a tolerance for the common man. First, I'm not the only one responding here. Second, its not a good idea to post your e-mail publicly.

You haven't answered what the landlord is suing you for. Its hard to help you further without knowing that. As smoothy answered the court can suspend your license if you don't pay court fees. But that has nothing to do with the landlord's suit.

As for repaying us for our help, Pay It Forward. There are Job Hunting forums here here and if you can help people with their questions that would be great.

Scott, The Landlord is suing me for $390.00 which is unpaid rent for April? Now that she got her attorney involved, he wanted me to settle with him out of court for $2400.00 of which he gets $2k. Is this what you mean?

Reason why I did not pay the rent is because the landlord wanted me to move out, on April 1st, because I was assaulted by her roommate, and because I filed charges against the roommate. So, since she did not give me the $200 Security Deposit, I could not pay all of the rent, especially if I was to have money for another Security Deposit for another place? So, I was trying to leave as soon as I could and it took me a month. So since I am on disability, I have a fixed income, and thus do not have the resources, also since I was assaulted this made my living situation inhabitable, and I was told that if a roommate is in inhabitable situation he or she can hold rent money in liue of what is causing the problem. So I guess I am gong to accept losing t his, and will just sue my roommate who caused this in the first place.

You owe the landlord for the time you occupied the apartment. You should try to settle with the landlord rather than go to court.
