    240 to 120 problems
    Is there a Neutral Bar in a 240 circuit box?

    Typically, yes, but then the panel and system would be rated 120 and 240 volts.Most residential systems are 120/240, and would have a neutral bar.

    There are straight 240 volt panels and systems used in industrial applications.

    What is your situation?

    Situation good;

    I found the 'fourth' wire and I connected it to the main panel's 'obsolete' ground bar and the secondary panel's neutral bar. Also, I attached the neutral to the 120 output to the same neutral bar. The main panel has one ground bar and the newer secondary panel has one ground bar and two neutral bars; these can serve as additional grounds. I separate them(ground and neutral) on the secondary panel. It's working! Thank you.

    P.S. The Forum information has been very helpful.
