Would like to add shower in basement on slab
    Hello all,
This is my 1st time on with you.
I'm an engineer and usually pretty handy with things.
I have a ground level basement slab with septic about 4-6 feet lower out in yard.
Have an existing slab level toilet with 4" metal waste line going into main waste line.
Problem is, main waste line is under a wood frame wall I built.
Looking to add adjoining shower (slab level) and tie 2" drain into 4" toilet drain line.
Willing to replace toilet line (2-3 feet long).
Does anyone make 4" metal line with 2" tee?
Believe iron or metal is required to code comply.
    Thx and regards,

So you are asking if you can open the slab floor and put a tee type fitting before the toilet pipe to pick up a shower?

    Doug,
    Thx for responding.
I got hold of a local code book for here on Long Island.
    My concern was twofold.
    1) Whether I could use PVC piping for an in slab toilet drain line (4")
    2) And if I could tee a shower drain into the same line.
I found out I can do both.
    Thx all the same.
    Jim

You are going to have to vent the shower.

    Hey Jim,

    1) Whether I could use PVC piping for an in slab toilet drain line (4")

    Yes,

    2) And if I could tee a shower drain into the same line.

Doug was right on. If you tie into the same line the shower will have to be vented. And that vent will have to be picked up by a fitting in a upright position or cocked on a 45 degree angle.
    Regards, Tom
