    Deferred action
    HI I have an appointment with immigration officer tomorrow and I was told to bring an itinerary for my flight that I must return to my country no later than nov 30. This new law came about and I qualify for it. The deferred action plan. I came to US at 12. Have been here ever since. I'm 24 now, married and have 2 kids, no criminal record not even a speeding ticket, finished school. What do I do? I'm afraid that if I don't bring an itinerary he is going to detain me. But I want to explain to him that I plan on applying for this and if it doesn't work I will go back and see the officer. My lawyer said that under this law he can't deport me at this time and that I don't need a flight itinerary... Give me some advice please

    You have an Attorney who is familiar with the facts, circumstances, documentation of your Immigration case.

    Would I defy Immigration? No. If the Officer wants/needs your itinerary, I would provide it. From my experience you CAN minimally be detained if you do not comply and/or cooperate.

    I would proceed carefully.

    You knew you had an appointment, you should have applied for the deferred program prior to your appointment and you should seek guidance from your lawyer.

    There are strict guidelines - this is not a free pass for everyone/anyone.

    Do you meet the guidelines? For example, are you a student?

    Why if you've been here for so long have you not applied for Immmigration status?
