Box on my laptop screen for skype does not allow me to use skype

Skype does NOT support a dial up connection.
You need a minimum of 1 mbps (1 meg) broadband

As Curlyben rightly said that if you have dial up connection you will not be able to use Skype on the computer because it will only work with broadband or DSL internet.
