Failing septic on a land contract
Hello,my hushband and I sold a house on a land contract. We sold 'as is'and disclosed everything we knew about the property, cracked windows, foundation cracks and wetland where the septic is which we border. We also have a neighbor with a pond so the back yard has always been spongy in the 22 years that we lived there with a family of 6.Had the septic pumped before we left.Owners have been there 2 monthes and now say the septic is bad and they dug up the pipe which is crushed. We did not put the pipe in and were unaware of any problems concerning the septic because of the wetlands.Who is responsible. Our contract states that is will be void under a gross breech of contract. They want us to pay for a new septic.House was appraised for $76,000 and we sold for $35,000 because of the condition and factors regarding the house. If we have to put in a septic can we negotiate a higher cost of the house.Or just cancel the contract.Any help will be great this has been a nightmare.Located in PA.
