    Father's estate
My father lived in Las Vegas,Nev. I do not know if their was a will. He was married I understand his wife is in a long term care hospital. I was not notified of his death. We did not talk to each other.

Read through the thread - AK answered your question.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

However, the answer to your question was in that thread https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/other-...ml#post3217559

You need to find out if a will is being probated. Do you know if there is an estate to distribute?

This always brings me back to the same question - you weren't in touch with him, you apparently don't know if there was a Will, you "understand" his wife is in a long term care hospital.

Why would you think you are entitled to inherit?

Anyway, here's the law in Nevada (intestate means without a Will):

"NRS 134.040 Surviving spouse and issue.
    1. If the decedent leaves a surviving spouse and only one child, or the lawful issue of one child, the estate goes one-half to the surviving spouse and one-half to the child or the issue of the child."

His wife is entitled to half; the surviving children (or child) divide the other half. This pertains ONLY to things that were not held jointly. For example, a bank account held jointly with his widow or property held jointly with his widow go 100% to the widow.

Now that his wife has survived him she decides what happens to everything/anything she inherited from him. You have no claim or entitlement to any of that.

Follow AK's directions in the other thread to determine if there is/was a Will. That's the only way to find out just what you are "entitled" to inherit.
