Your "soon to be husband" can ADOPT the child when he is your REAL LEGAL husband.

In the US your "ex" cannot "sign over rights." Someone has to be legally responsible for supporting the child and it's both parents until adoption puts another parent in the place of one of the original two.

I don't know what "allowing to sign over rights" means.

Are you not in the US?

Is "fiance" the word for which you are searching?

Perhaps not. In the present time, the word has come to be equivalent to "domestic partner". :)

    Congratuations on your upcoming marriage.

Oh. And to answer your question:

Once the marriage has occurred, see an attorney about a step-parent adoption.
